A Romantic Celebration of Philippines' Kundiman and OPM during Harana: A Valentine's Serenade

The Philippines-Tokyo Concert Series opened its first concert in 2025 with Harana: A Valentine's Serenade. We thank our first Filipino soprano, Fatima Niña Reyes, for being our guest Filipino artist and performing timeless kundiman songs and OPM songs arranged in bossa-jazz, accompanied by Carell Ethilca Henry on the piano.
OPM with the Quartet
The jazz quartet was completed with the special participation of our guests, Coleman Bayliss, a jazz-funk bassist hailing from Australia, and Richie Henry, a drummer from the Southern Coast of Mississippi. We performed arrangements of beloved OPM (Original Pilipino Music) in the 80s such as Rey Valera's Kahit Maputi Na Ang Buhok Ko, Sitti, and The CompanY. We varied our repertoire with Broadway musicals.

We're thrilled to share that our recent concert was a sold-out success, drawing a wonderfully diverse audience from around the globe. It was a joyful celebration and a meaningful opportunity to connect with more fellow Filipinos, while also sharing the richness of our culture, music, language, and history with the broader international community.
Since our last performance, our audience has continued to grow—a testament to the warmth and enthusiasm we've received. We're profoundly grateful for your unwavering support. As always, we remain dedicated to our mission: to showcase the beauty and depth of Filipino musical and cultural heritage, and to bring it to audiences around the world.
