Gunita: A Tribute to Maestro Gilopez Kabayao Received a Resounding Bravo in a Full-House Concert
In celebration of the 127th Philippine Independence Day, the Philippines-Tokyo Concert Series 2025 brought to you one of the finest young Filipino virtuosos, Japan-based violinist Jimmy Tagala, Jr., on an afternoon of musical tribute to Maestro Gilopez Kabayao and his musical legacy to Philippine music.
Being featured in Japan's Friendship Ties Program is one of my significant opportunities to share my story as an artist here in Tokyo. As a Filipino pianist, this honor is a testament to my dedication and passion for promoting art and culture to both nationsー Japan and the Philippines.

A Romantic Celebration of Philippines' Kundiman and OPM during Harana: A Valentine's Serenade
The Philippines-Tokyo Concert Series opened its first concert in 2025 with Harana: A Valentine's Serenade. We thank our first Filipino soprano, Fatima Niña Reyes, for being our guest Filipino artist and performing timeless kundiman songs and OPM songs arranged in bossa-jazz, accompanied by Carell Ethilca Henry on the piano.
